C. M. Schröder (Russian К. М. Шредер, German C. M. Schröder) was a piano manufacturing factory located in Saint Petersburg. The company was named after Karl Michael Schröder (1828-1889), son of Johann Friedrich Schröder (1785-1852) from Stralsund, who opened a piano workshop and then a factory in 1816 or 1818[1]. The "C. M. Schröder" company was one of the few Russian manufacturers that gained international fame. "C. M. Schröder" instruments were supplied to the ruling houses of Austria, Germany, Denmark, and Russia. By the end of the 19th century, the factory had become the largest piano manufacturer in pre-revolutionary Russia.
