Aleksandrs Dembo (1931-1999). Classic. Year 1992. 63/45 cm with frame. Under glass. Wooden frame in gold patina color.
Aleksandrs Dembo was born in Paris but arrived in Riga, Pārdaugava, at the age of one. During the war, he ended up in Moscow, and soon after, in 1945, returned to Riga with his foster mother. He studied at Rozentāls Riga Art High School (1947 – 1949) and the Graphics Department of the Latvian State Academy of Art (1957 – 1963), graduating under the guidance of Professor A. Apinis. Since 1962, he worked
at LMA. He has been participating in exhibitions since 1962. One of the most initiative-rich leaders of the Graphic Artists' Section in the 60s-70s, an organizer of Tallinn graphic triennials and other significant exhibitions. He worked in easel graphics, book graphics, and painting. His works are characterized by an acute sense of the era, rhythm, expanded imagery, and a search for heightened expressiveness.
