A rare, illustrated, and very interesting book by Miroslav Zikmund and Jiří Hanzelka, "The Upside-Down Crescent." Published in 1962. Jiří Hanzelka and Miroslav Zikmund are famous Czechoslovakian travelers. In order to quickly restore Czechoslovakia's foreign trade relations lost during the war, the friends proposed a trip to a number of foreign countries. In 1947-1948, they drove from north to south across the African continent in a Czech Tatra passenger car. The car was tested under the harshest conditions of the sandy desert and rough terrain. Hanzelka and Síkmund recounted their impressions of this difficult but fascinating trip in their three-volume book Africa of Dreams and Reality. From 1948 to 1950, the journey continued through the countries of South America. Four books were published as a result of this trip. In April 1959, the friends embarked on a new five-year journey through the countries of Asia. The Inverted Crescent is the first book about their journey through Asia.
